What is a Christian?
There seems to be a lot of confusion on that very issue. Christianity is not about being a good person, an American, or even a church goer. It is not about right wing politics, nor about being "spiritual". Christianity is, simply, a commitment of your life to living with God in control. This is what the Bible says about the process of becoming a Christian:
1. God loves you!!
For God so loved the world...
It is not out of anger, or vengeance, or whatever to get you to become a Christian. It is out of God's eternal love that moved Him to provide for your salvation.
2. God forgives you and does it all for you!!
That He gave His only begotten Son...
It is God's plan to give to you freely the demonstration of His love by offering His only Son as a sacrifice for our sin. It is nothing that you can earn, for we are never worthy. It is God's love and God's action that does it all for us.
3. God expects some action on our part.
That whosoever believes on Him...
Our part in all of this is that we have to believe in, or put our trust in Him. We have to make a commitment to make Him the Lord, or "the head" of our lives.
4. God has a reward for us!!
Shall not perish, but have everlasting life.
If we put our trust in Him, He will give to us eternal life.
Scripture passage is John 3:16

This very moment, you can receive Christ's gift of salvation by sincerely praying this simple prayer from your heart:
|
|
Dear God, I know that I am a sinner. I know that You love me and want to save me. Jesus, I believe You are the Son of God, who died on the cross to pay for my sins. I believe God raised You from the dead. I now turn from my sin and, by faith, receive You as my personal Lord and Savior. Come into my heart, forgive my sins, and save me, Lord Jesus. In Your name I pray, Amen.
